At the begining of the training i already mention to everyone tt we dun hav enough boats thats why we need time trial to choose the one w e best timing & attendence.
For those that are not in the list. Training camp is still compulsary for all okie. Its on the 8, 9 & 10 Jan 2010. Come down for WED land training for more details regarding training camp.

SIM Sports Award Nite 2009

As the year comes to a close... SIM Sports Award Nite 2009.. celebrates the hard work and effort of each sports club as well as the sports achievement of fellow sportsman / sportswoman students of SIM regardless which sports club they represent.

The award nite was extra meaningful as the school invited Mr. Kunalan ( Singapore Olympian) down for award presenter as well as giving everyone a meaningful talk on SPIRIT OF OLYMPISIM
Mr. C Kunalan is a sports icon in Singapore, who was a competitive athlete and represented our country as a sprinter at the highest level of international competition, including the South East Asian, Asian and Olympic Games.

The annual general meeting (AGM) has been postponed to 2nd January due to a sizeable number of members not being able to make it on 26 December.

But 20 October 2009. the day our club ushers in our new red K boats.
The new K boats ready for "unwrapping" and WATER ACTION!!
For all members and especially the founders of the SIM Canoeing Club.
This was the day whereby it marks a new milestone in our club.
Our very own K boats
There are althogether 4 K1 boats and 2 K2 boats. Lets make full use of the boats for training to win competitions and do the school / club proud.

Training Schedule For The Month (December)

Land Training @ SIM - Every Wednesday @ 5.30pm-9.30pm
(Assemble in ^^Room 2.20 ^^Check School Electronic Display for Venue Updates) *Sea Training @ Kallang - Every Saturday@ 9.30am-2.30pm *Sea Training @ MacRitchie - Please check with the Ex-Co for details
*In view of recent unfortunate incidents among water sports athletes in Singapore, all members are required to pass a basic swim test conducted by SIM Lifesaving Club before commencing any sea trainings.
The Swim Test comprise:
1. A 50m swim with any 1 recognized stroke; breast, fly, crawl, back, side
2. Treading water – 3 minutes
3. Drown proofing – 3 minutes
Exemptions will be granted for any of these:
1. SSC learn to swim program (Intermediate Level 2)
2. National Survival swimming awards (Bronze)
3. Lifesaving Certification from Lifesaving society
A rudimentary One-Star Cert is required of every canoeist attending sea training ( SCF regulations ). One Star courses will be on a term by term basis.
Please also note that SIM Canoeing is a competitive club and would require all members to attend BOTH sea and land training
